Step Into a Storybook Adventure at Heathcote Botanical Gardens!

Looking for a fun, educational, and FREE family activity this summer? Mark your calendars for Thursday, June 5th from 10:00 AM–12:00 PM and bring the kids to Heathcote Botanical Gardens for a magical Story Walk experience the whole family will enjoy!

Hosted by Heathcote Botanical Gardens, Children’s Services Council of St. Lucie County, and Tales in the Wild, this interactive outdoor event invites families to explore the gardens while discovering the playful children’s book Halfway Wild by Laura Freudig and illustrated by Kevin M. Barry.

Set against the lush beauty of Heathcote Botanical Gardens, families will journey through the story as they walk along the garden paths. Halfway Wild creatively compares everyday family moments to the behaviors of animals — buzzing like bees in the morning, moving slowly like turtles, splashing like seals, and winding down like sleepy bears at bedtime. The imaginative storytelling encourages children to connect with nature while celebrating creativity, movement, and family fun.
