Volunteer

Get Involved – Feel Good – Be A Garden Volunteer!

Why Volunteer?

  • To meet and connect with new and interesting people of all ages
  • To give back to your community
  • To become more active, productive and/or sociable
  • To add a new sense of purpose to your life
  • To share your skills and knowledge
  • To become a valuable part of a worthwhile educational facility
  • To participate in a meaningful endeavor – the growth of your botanical garden

Heathcote Botanical Gardens is what it is today due to the work of numerous, dedicated volunteers. Today, even with a growing staff, volunteers still play a vital role at the Gardens and are needed daily.

Volunteer Opportunities

Like to garden? Assist the gardener with weeding, watering, fertilizing, propagating & other tasks. No experience needed.

Want to volunteer but don’t have a lot of time? There are many jobs for volunteers during special events throughout the year too! Just keep an eye on our events page for announcements about volunteer opportunities for special events.

Trained docents have an opportunity to share their knowledge with visitors through educational programs and informal contacts. Work is mainly outdoors or in the Pioneer House or the Bonsai Pavilion.

Like the garden but prefer the air conditioning? Assist with gift shop sales, collect admissions, greet visitors & more!

Do you have office skills to share? Help with mailings, filing, answering phones, light data entry & more! No experience needed.

Spread the word about Heathcote. Recruit new volunteers, lead a tour, staff a table at a community event, speak to a group & more!

Share your expertise and serve on one of our committees – Events, Membership, Fundraising & more!

Who Can Volunteer?

Everyone is invited to participate regardless of experience. You must be over the age of 16 to volunteer on your own. Anyone under the age of 16 must always be supervised by a responsible adult over the age of 21.
